50 Plasma TV
By Anne Ahira
Large televisions are known for one thing, they normally come with a large price to go with their immense display. When you add in new technology, the price really begins to climb.
However, as with anything else, the prices rise and then begin to fall as demand increases and technology improves. If you are in the market for a 50 Plasma TV you may be pleasantly surprised.
Samsung
Getting that monster television you have always dreamed about could be closer than you imagine. Samsung has a nice model that comes in at under $1,000.
Features
- 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
- 100,000 panel life
- V-chip
- Swivel stand included
- 175 degree viewing angle
- 720p resolution
- 3 HDMI ports, S video, component video and AV inputs
Good
Tech geeks may find that the 720p resolution is behind the technological 8 ball but the high contrast ratio more than make up the difference. The goal of any high definition television is clear picture and smooth transition between frames, the 50 plasma TV by Samsung more than delivers on both fronts.
One common problem that plasma 50 inch or not has been the problem with burn in and premature aging of the pixels. Samsung has added anti-burn in technology.
Bad
Even with anti burn in technology if you spend a large amount of time on video games or certain channels with static logos you may want to forego this television. The best technology in the world is having problems overcoming this issue. That being said most customers did say that if you limit static images in the beginning
Sound quality without surround is not the greatest. This has been a common issue for some time with the thin panel televisions, whether they are 50 Plasma TV or not.
Customers Who Bought This
Customers are pleased with both picture quality and price. One customer’s comments were they should never have bought the set, because they now get nothing else done! Fall in love with television viewing all over again with this 50 plasma TV from Samsung. Moreover, no one was disappointed in not having 1080 resolution. The difference according to customers was imperceptible.
Bottom Line
Quite a bit of television and plasma to boot for less than a thousand dollars. This 50 plasma TV is recommended for mature users who will take care to minimize the possibility of screen burn in, in other words 20 hours of Final Fantasy may not be a good idea. The Samsung 50 plasma TV rates well with customers and editors alike.
