The Archos DVR Station is the method that you will use to connect your Archos 5 unit to a television set top box.  With this device you can record programming from your television directly to your Archos 5.  The Archos 5 has the ability to be taken from the station and taken with you wherever you go.

It is also possible to send the programming from the Archos 5 to your television set and watch the recorded programming from your television.  This also allows you to go on the Internet from your Archos 5 and also look at your pictures and movies from the device on your television.

It is relatively simple to set up the device and have it connected to your television with the provided cables.  There is also a port for HDMI connections but it does not come with your unit.  You will also have to allow the Archos DVR station to have control over your set top box.

The DVR station will be turning the machine on and off and perform the channel changes.  It is a simple process to have the DVR station complete this process with the set up wizard.  All you have to do is select your set top box from the manufacturer list.

After this is completed, your Archos 5 will get the listings from your set top box.  This allows you to watch the listings through your DVR recorder and then record the programs that you wish to record.

The Archos DVR Station comes with a wireless keyboard included that will allow you to control the device.  There is also an on screen keyboard, but the wireless is a simpler method to use.

The Archos DVR station also allows you to charge your Archos 5 which will make the process much quicker than using the USB for charging the Archos 5.
