ATV Battery
By Anne Ahira
ATVs are “All Terrain Vehicles” many of which are made for racing through hillsides, in between trees, through mud and many other assorted other obstacles that may render the ride even harder.
Many people race them for sport. A good ride is one where you are indistinguishable from your fellow riders because you all have the same amount of dirt or mud stuck to you.
Some all terrain vehicles are even made for riding in the frozen tundras of the various North Pole locations available for use with an ATV.
Just as your automobile needs a dependable amount of parts, so does an ATV, thus there is an especially constructed ATV battery.
All ATV batteries will be especially made to be heat at well as vibration resistant so that the rider can ensure totally reliable performance when under these tough off-road conditions.
Finding a good ATV battery usually consists of visiting a brick and mortar store or looking online. Most battery sales at .com sites will usually have a very helpful way to look up your correct ATV battery.
Usually you will be told to make a selection from the navigation bar categories of the batteries listed. Then you’ll simply scroll down until you find the correct icon at the bottom of the page that will list all the brands of ATV batteries.
Then you will find the make of your ATV. Select that icon, and this takes you to the next page where you will see every different ATV battery that is for sale at that site that will fit your own ATV.
You will finally make the selection from the list, noting that there will be a variety of choices available for your brand of ATV battery.
You will, however, need to know how many amps you are looking for as well as the voltage. This should be in your owner’s manual, or barring that you have none, you should be able to look at your existing ATV battery and read it off the battery.
Choosing the wrong battery may very well overheat your ATV or at best be wasting the power.
You should, in order to minimize future problems with your battery, purchase a branded battery that carries a good warranty period with it.
Most ATV batteries are sealed for them to be declared maintenance free. This means that they are the gel type and therefore have no acid to add.
You can purchase a battery indicator for your ATV battery if you so desire, which will always tell you the condition of the battery, and they do sell battery chargers as well. They safely charge and even maintain the battery. They are computerized and thus won’t ever over charge it.
