Finding the Best GPS

Best GPS

Finding the Best GPS might seem like a fairly easy task but as you begin to search through the brands and start to weed out the better models from the not so good ones you see that there are a lot of things that one model has that might be better than another and vice versa. By and large the model with the most press and the advertising that is most aggressive has been the Tom-Tom brand.

They are also the company offering some of the most aggressive pricing. But does the best price mean the Best GPS for your dollar? Not necessarily. As you will see if you actually attempt to use one, the Ton-Tom brand actually takes more steps to get things done or to chance even some very basic settings on the unit than some of the other models and that would be namely the Garmin brand.

The Garmin Nuvi is very user friendly and even someone that has never used one before can manage to make it through the options even without using a manual to guide them. This might make it a top candidate for the Best GPS category since the last thing you want to do is spend a lot of unneeded time trying to get your GPS to take you where you want to go,

The Best GPS is going to vary from person to person. What might be the best one for me may very well not be the best for you. What is best for your wife may not work at all well for my daughter. The trick here is that you can’t just buy one without trying it out first because they do work and operate very differently from one another.

For instance, the mid level and up Garmin can give you voice commands if you have the model with TTS. This means that you can listen to the directions including information that you input, rather than having to look at the screen. To some people this is a plus and to others it is a problem. There are different ways that they show the map from 2d to 3d and that is truly personal preference. Some of the less expensive models do not offer that option.

The Best GPS for me has to have a larger screen so that my aging eyes can see it. My daughter however prefers a smaller screen because her eyes are youthful and good and she drives a compact car so my big 5-inch screen would look out of place on her dash.

If you do a little hands on research on the actual models it should only take you a few moments to decide if the model is for you or not.

This is a simple and attractive carrying case for a Garmin GPS device. The most important thing it does is protect your Garmin. Also the case is easier to hold in your hand than the Garmin itself - fabric over metal. This is a solid value.... Read More
