Best Photo Printers

By Anne Ahira

Once upon a time, the only way to obtain a photograph was either through a professional photographer or by taking photos, dropping them off to be developed and waiting several days for your prints.

Today you can take a picture one second and with the right equipment print it out the next.

All you really need is a good digital camera and photo printer and you are in position to capture and save those special memories.

Of course, when you are making memories and saving them you want to use the best photo printers available, and this is where the decisions get a bit confusing.

Finding the best photo printers is difficult because everyone has their own idea about what constitutes the best photo printers.

For you it could be clarity of images, for another speed and for yet someone else the best photo printers will be ones that get the job done in the most cost effective manner!

Picture Only Printers

When you are looking at the best photo printers, you have the choice between picture only printers and printers that will do a variety of jobs.

If you are going to be printing quite a number of photos on a regular basis, you may want to consider a printer like the Epson Stylus Picture Mate.

Features

  • 4×6 quality printing
  • About 29 cents per print
  • 5,760 x 1440 dpi maximum resolution
  • 2.5-picoliter drops
  • 6-color pigment inks
  • resists fading for up to 200 years in archival sleeves

The Epson Picture Mate dedicated printer is definitely in a class alone when it comes to quality, price and durability. Compared to commercially developed images the Epson out performs every time.

On caveat however, when you print pictures with another brand of photo paper the image results are not as good. This is probably because the ink and paper were specially designed to work together.

The other downside to a printer such as this is the fact that you are limited to 4×6 prints. Of course most people do not find it necessary to print 8×10 pictures, however if this is something you are considering you will want to choose another of the best photo printers.

All in One

Your other option among the best photo printers is to look at the all in one printer. There are several varieties on the market today and these printers are perfect for the casual photo printer.

One reasonably priced all in one printer that offers great photo printing as well is the Kodak Easy Share line of printers. When you want to save money on ink the Kodak line of printers are most definitely the best photo printers on the market.

The first of the all in one printers from Kodak was the 5100. This printer would scan, copy and print quite well and with ink, prices around $25 to replace both the black and the color ink people were taking notice.

Before long Kodak had released newer models on the same platform but added wireless capability, LED screen for image manipulation and networking capability.

When it comes to finding, the best photo printers that will save you money and serve as a regular printer as well you could do much worse than the Kodak line of products.
