Setting up a powerful desktop computer with useful peripherals can be quite a chore even when all of the components are placed perfectly on the surface space.

Problems can still arise when connecting all of these devices together. Even if that feat is successfully done, the end result can be rather messy because of the cable cord clutter.

Neglecting this clutter has its consequences like the possible disorganization of cables or unwanted tangling.

Then when the realization is made for changing the overall layout, frustration can build if the cables are too tangled for a smooth transition to something new.

This can even be worse for setting up home theater systems. These cable cord organization tips are crucial for keeping everything visually tidy and convenient for transportability as well.

Using Foam Pipe Insulations

Foam pipes are an inexpensive way to make the cables look a lot tidier without much effort. If a DIY project proves to be too much work or if the materials aren’t available, there are some affordable foam pipes being sold at Amazon.com that should allow a bundle of cable cords to pass through. The advantage of using these pipes is the easy adaptation to multiple setups since foam is flexible.

Using Mille-Ties

Mille-ties are famous for their holding strength no matter the length or thickness the cable cord is. They are much easier to use than twisty ties and have better strength than the traditional Velcro cable ties. 

Not only are these Mille-Ties durable, but they are flexible as well since they are made of elastomer making them ideal for indoor and outdoor usage. Untying is simple to do and can be reused for another cable.

A bundle of 100 Mille-Ties are being sold at Amazon roughly $12 and includes several colors that can be used for identification purposes. This is the solution to get for people with large amounts of cables to be sorted.

Using the Cable Clamp

Cable clamps are more versatile than Millie-Ties as they come in three different sizes for cable cord management to be applied on even the thickest cords. Made of stainless steel, these cables self-align and self-adjust to help extension cords that are up to 100 inches long.

The cable clamp self-locks automatically which is also good for speedy and urgent cable cord management. Not as many pieces are included in one package like the Milie-Ties, but the different colors should make it ideal for purpose to sort their cable cords without the need of applying labels for easy tracing.

Adding Labels to the Ports

If color coding is too simple for classification, adding labels by using blank stickers or regular paper and tape can help greatly especially when lots of different ports are connected.

This makes it easier to identify which device is connected to where. It can also be useful in cases where things need to be moved and everything needs to be disconnected temporarily so reconnecting the devices can be much faster.

Cable cord organization is easy and requires few materials to get started. If the right tips are applied based on the setup, cable cords shouldn’t get tangled very often serving as a good preventative measure in keeping cords tidy.
