Home offices or even just home theater equipment comes with a tangle of wires that can test the patience of Job. Not to mention the hazard they can present with kids or pets!
Sometimes a few cable ties will do the trick, but in extreme cases, you might need to build or have built a cable raceway.
A cable raceway is a series of molded plastic that are fire retardant and often paintable. They offer you a way to cover the multitude of wires in a cost effective way.
Custom
If you do not feel comfortable with this as a do it yourself project you can likely find and independent contractor who is skilled in building cable raceway. The best place to find an adequate contractor is to ask around.
People will tell you quickly if a contractor can be trusted to do a quality job. Barring that, the next best place to find someone to do the work is at a retailer who sells the cable raceway parts.
DIY
Building a cable raceway is a matter of getting proper measurements and schematics for your office. Many raceway sections are sold in six-foot strips along with corners, T’s and, inside and outside corners, plus connectors.
Measure out the amount of cable you will need to cover and divide that by six, this will give you the number of sections required. Then count up the number of connectors and corners you will need.
Be sure to purchase a cable raceway-cutting tool in case you need to create any custom lengths.
