Canon ELPH Cameras
By Anne Ahira
For years Canon has been one of the leading names in camera and copier technology. This is especially true with regard to their new series of digital devices that are among the besting selling product lines on the market today. In this article we are going to discuss the Canon ELPH digital camera.
The Canon ELPH is officially classified as a subcompact camera and is included in the company’s popular Powershot Line. These cameras are the smallest, lightest and most popular cameras that Canon makes. Their appeal is often attributed to their portability, ease of use, and the fact that owners are not asked to sacrifice performance for size. Believe it or not, these small cameras are loaded with advanced features that are often only found on much larger devices. For example, some ELPHs have image stabilization, and they have received glowing reviews from both amateur and professional photographers.
The Canon ELPH is also competitively priced and can be found on quality sites like Amazon.com. There you will find many models of this popular camera that can be delivered to your doorstep in only a few days.
What do they offer? The Canon ELPH is known for its extraordinary combination of power and portability. For instance, most of models of the ELPH line are known for having a high number of megapixels. Since many shoppers have no idea what that number means, let us take a moment to review exactly what a megapixel is.
All digital photos are composed of tiny dots called pixels. The more of these pixels you have, the sharper, clearer and more detailed you photographs will be. As you may know, mega means million, so a one mega pixel camera supports one million of those little dots called pixels for each picture you take.
The cameras in the Canon ELPH line range from 10 megapixels to an amazing 14.7 megapixels. That is one reason why these cameras take some of the clearest digital photos you can find from any non-professional, mainstream camera. Another important feature is the digital zoom. Like the cameras of old, the zoom feature lets shutterbugs get closer and magnifies their pictures.
Because they are digital devices, the Canon ELPH also comes complete with a movie mode that gives users the ability to shoot short videos with sound. However, the amount of recording time does depend on the camera you select. Some models will let you shoot video for only a few minutes, while others will let you record for quite some time.
As any experienced buyer of digital cameras knows, the LCD screen is also extremely important. This is simply the screen through which you look when you are preparing to take a photograph or to record a video.
The standard LCD screen for the Canon ELPH is 2.5 inches, which is respectable for a small camera. Really, you will not be able to find much larger screens on mini or subcompact cameras. They simply aren’t big enough.
Other notable features on ELPH cameras include, image stabilization, which makes your pictures considerably sharper, and the new ISO 1600 feature that cuts down on blurring and allows for better low-light shooting.
