If you plan to take many photos or videos, you might want to consider purchasing a Canon tripod.

A tripod is used in a variety of conditions but the bottom line is to keep your camera as still as possible for the best pictures.

Or in the case of a video camera to allow you to film, videos that are smooth, not jerky and looking like the Blair Witch Project!

Before we review one of the many Canon Tripods on the market, there are a couple of things you should know to look for.

The first bit of information you should check when shopping for a Canon tripod or any other for that matter is what is your budget and how many fall within that number? You will waste valuable time and be very disappointed if you shop outside of your price range so that is number one.

Secondly, what is your primary use for the tripod? If you are going to be shooting amateur videos in the basement with your friends, you will not need to worry so much about whether the tripod is sturdy on uneven ground, however if you are a nature photographer there is no telling what the terrain could be like.

Finally check the specifications on the particular Canon tripod you are interested in. If the camera and lenses you will be using the most are too heavy for the tripod you risk damaging both pieces of equipment.

Now that you are for armed with some basic things to look for let’s examine the Canon tripod Deluxe 200.

Features

  • Maximum height – 59.3”
  • Ideal for medium – sized 35mm cameras, up to a 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens
  • 3-way panhead with quick release
  • Canon tripod only weighs a little over 2 pounds soaking wet! This means it is perfect for long hikes to get that perfect panoramic shot.

Probably the best feature of this tripod is the cost. At $40, it is hard to see where you can go wrong. However, you must keep in mind that for $40 you get exactly what you pay for.

There is a good amount of plastic on this tripod and it will likely need to be handled carefully in order to keep it in good repair.

Again, considering the price you pay, this Canon tripod has nice sturdy legs. They are much larger than you would expect on a cheap model, which means it will be much sturdier overall.

Bottom Line

If you follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for this Canon tripod, you will not be disappointed. It is extremely light and easy to use and best of all it is cheap. This is a great entry-level tripod for the new photographer.
