Creative V mp3 players are another product from your friends over at Creative Labs. Once again, they have taken form and function and blended them in such a way that the customers are enthused and impressed.

Creative V comes in three sizes, 2, 4 and 8 GB, all of which share the same discreet design and basic functions. They also come in a variety of console and backlight color combinations, such as white and orange or black and blue. Who says an OLED display can’t be stylish?

Features

The main difference in the three different sizes of Creative V is the amount of music you can store. This general features list applies to the 2, 4 and 8 GB Creative V mp3 players.

Pros

One great feature that is lacking on many mp3 players is the ability to record directly from a CD instead of first downloading it to your pc and then transferring the files. With the Creative V, you can plug into your CD player and record directly, cutting out the middleman. In addition, the automatic track detection will separate the tracks for you as they are being recorded; this is a great feature especially if you are recording from an analog device such as a cassette.

Freedom from the ITunes slave trade is a distinct plus with the Creative V. While ITunes are great, it is much better to be able to choose from many resources to get your favorite tunes.

There are many ways the Creative V goes about saving the battery life of this mp3 player. First, you must press and hold the on button for a full second before the unit comes on. This prevents the player from being accidentally turned on in your pocket and leaving you with a dead battery a few hours later. The mp3 player is also programmed to turn itself off when it has not been in use for a few minutes. Even while in use, the Creative V is still managing the battery life very well by automatically dimming the display after a few seconds.

One complaint many people have had with smaller mp3 players is that they have no bookmarking feature. The Creative V has bookmarking and will only play one folder of music at a time instead of playing from one folder to the next as many players do. For some that could just as easily be a con, however since it is similar to listening to a CD and then changing it, we will leave it a pro.

Cons

While the OLED screen is excellent for viewing and a great battery, saver it can be difficult to see in direct sunlight.

It would have been nice to have a house charger that works like the typical cell phone, however this unit only offers USB charging which can take some time.

Overall

The Creative V line of mp3 players are very nice. They are small and compact making them ideal for the gym or jogging, plus have many innovative features that you will not find with similar players.
