The Advantages of a Digital Copier

Digital Copier

One of the biggest advantages of a digital copier is the quality in which your printed documents come out. When purchasing a photocopier, you have two kinds from which you can choose.

The first is an analog copier, which uses a negatively charged toner and positively charged drum and paper.

Then, there is a digital copier which uses a positively charged toner and negatively charged drum and paper.

Digital copiers are the preferred copiers of most offices and businesses not only because they produce higher quality documents, but also because they have several other advantages.

A digital copier is multi-functional, which means it can perform many operations at the same time which include not only being able to create a hard copy from an original document, you also can send it to a fax machine by sending it electronically.

Text documents can also be transmitted to an email address. The scanner function in digital copiers-which scan optically- can also save a scan into memory which allows it to be transmitted electronically to other devices as long as they are also digital.

Digital copiers are also cost effective as the ink within the cartridges that they use can create more copies than analog copiers and there are also less mechanical parts used in the process of producing these documents to break down.

This results in less maintenance and fewer repairs. While a digital copier can be more expensive up front to purchase, it can be well worth it in the long run especially for large businesses that need to produce a substantial amount of documents on a daily basis.

These copiers are produced in such a way that they keep the environment in mind. When they are left idle for a certain length of time they go into an energy saving mode and initiate the process of powering down.

When purchasing a digital copier for your home office or business, you will want to first determine what size you will need according to the volume of copies that will be made.

A heavy duty copier is more durable and is capable of producing a greater number of documents-as much as sixty thousand per month-as opposed to one you may use at home which would require a more standard size and can produce up to ten thousand copies per month. You will also have to determine whether you will need only black and white copies or color copies as well.

Black and white copiers are less expensive than color and there is no sense in spending the extra money if you have no need for color. Another option you can choose to have is a network card which allows more than one computer to share access of the copier.

You can also install a printer mode which allows you to change your copier into a laser printer. As you can see, there are many advantages to using a digital copier which you should give careful consideration to when purchasing your next photocopier.
