Pros

If you are looking for bells and whistles, this wireless router delivers. You will have QoS, WISH, VPN, Port Forwarding and Gigabit ports. You may be able to find more features and possibilities in another router but you will pay at least double the money for it!

Cons

Dlink routers such as the one listed above have great customer feedback, the majority of people who have used them are very satisfied with performance. However, there is a small segment that have had compatibility issues with their internet provider issued modem and the Dlink routers.

The Actiontec M1000 model DSL modem is known for throwing a tantrum with many routers including the DIR-655. If you have this type of cable modem, you are likely going to have issues setting up any type of network.

Firmware upgrades are not optional! While this is not necessarily a con for Dlink routers, it does bear mentioning. When you set up your device be sure that you upgrade the firmware as soon as possible or the unit may fail to operate.

Overall

As far as price, reliability and options are concerned, the DIR-655 is one of the best Dlink routers available.

There are more expensive models that have expanded features such as dual band broadcasting, but you have to ask yourself if this feature is truly worth the extra cost. Dlink routers have a good history of reliability and function and best of all they will not break the bank!
