By Anne Ahira
Texas Instruments developed an amazing technology known as a Digital Light Processing and started out fresh in the digital cinema industry.
It is currently one of the top technologies used today in that field with even some televisions utilizing that technology.
Although it has been around for a long time, DLP projectors continue to improve in their chipsets and are being put to good use by the different manufacturers.
Many of the best DLP projectors out there display in full HD 1080p resolution and some of those projectors are becoming more affordable to ordinary consumers which explain why they are becoming more popular than ever. With 2010 in action, here are some of the popular DLP projectors of 2009.
Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector
The Optoma HD20 DLP projector puts full high definition in the forefront operating in the full native 1920 x 1080 resolution for pictures to look their brightest and sharpest.
What made this one of the more popular 1080p DLP home theater projectors is broad compatibility over most of the computer formats including VESA, VGA resized, SVGA, and formats above.
All of the common video inputs are present for global usage from SDTV to HDTV at 1080p. Aside from its impressive image quality, the $1,000-priced HD20 eliminates its dependency on filters nearly making it maintenance-free.
Vivitek D825MS 2600 Lumen SVGA DLP Projector
This DLP projector by VIvitek doesn’t reach for the HD quality, but costs a lot less at $400. Portability takes the spotlight here just weight 5.7 pounds for convenient travel and even comes with a Kensington security lock for an added safety measure against theft.
It is still packed with good features including a generous 2200:1 contrast ratio and 800 x 600 resolutions for displaying decent video presentations in their native 4:3 format.
A 16:9 mode is available as well including support for 702p and 1080i. It has a special eco-mode for it to run quiet at 30 dB (originally 32 dB) and comes with a convenient remote.
BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini-LED DLP Projector
The BenQ Joybee GP1 projector may cost $100 more than the Vivitek D825MS, but it impresses with its small size and much lighter weight at about 4 pounds.
