GPS navigational devices are all the rage, you can find them for car, air or sea and all will give you intense information on where you are and how to get to where you are going.

Garmin has decided to combine two of its most popular units into one. The Garmin 276c is a land and sea navigational device, this means you can use the GPS to get to your boat and then have a ball navigating the high seas!

Pros

From the start, the neatest feature of the Garmin 276c is the fact that it is so versatile. Take it on a road trip across the country then pull it out and hit the ocean or waterways. What is really surprising is that for a double machine you are not paying double the price.

The display screen is definitely an improvement on other models. You can read the display of the Garmin 276c in just about any light and at any angle. Considering you may get a lot of mileage on the water this is a good thing, how many dark boats have you been on lately.

Thankfully, this unit contains a lithium ion battery. Other units depend on a power source from your car or boat in order to function. The battery on this unit is good for approximately eight hours.

Cons

The biggest complaint is in the number of proprietary extras you will have to purchase to use the Garmin 276c to its full potential. Many feel like these should be standard and others feel like that is the name of the game.

Either way you should know that in order to use all the features you will be shelling out more money.

Bottom Line

By land or by sea the Garmin 276c has you covered. With navigation maps for all of the United States, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico there are few places if any that you can drive to that are not covered.

Get tired of tooling around on the highways you can hop a boat, rent or purchase it please, and cruise the coastline with the same GPS device. Be sure you have the maps you need before you head out; some of the marine maps are extra.

This is a nice navigational unit and works as advertised; the only real problem is in the included software.
