Garmin Maps
By Anne Ahira
Garmin Maps, co-founded in 1989 by Gary Burrell and Dr. Min Kao, proudly have their world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas, together created excellent navigation as well as communication devices. Their first product was of course a Global Positioning System (GPS).
As strange as it may sound in our world of outsourcing, Garmin Maps not only sell their own products, but they market, manufacture as well as design they own products. By the year 2007, their work force was worldwide and they had over 7,000 employees as they expanded into both Europe and Asia.
Today, the Garmin Maps are now an automotive product that is of tremendous assistance in helping drivers reach their destination totally as effortlessly as possible, all the while thoroughly enjoying their journey. Whether they are in their rental car or even in a retail store, the first-time Garmin Maps users promptly comprehend the wealth of information that has been packed into a relatively tiny yet portable unit.
Garmin Maps has gone into a wonderful association along with Microsoft to engineer newer and better ways to serve you. For example, you may now plan a road trip totally from your computer.
Using your computer at home or at your place of business you may now send points of interest found on Google maps wirelessly into your MSN Direct-compatible navi. This enables the road trip plan to have traffic details, movie times, weather forecasts and much more instantly at the traveler’s fingertips.
Another wonderful feature available from Garmin Maps is downloadable content for a new city you may wish to explore. Once you reach the city you may now plan for routes that can include public transit options. This may be suburban rail systems, metro, tramway or buses.
Working in conjunction with their travel guides, you will also be able to use recommendations and reviews of shopping areas, hotels, motels, restaurants and other wonderful places for you to visit while away.
Back in the good old days of the Model T, a large city was lucky to have maybe ten cars rolling around, but today trying to avoid traffic tie-ups seems to have become a national pastime. The Garmin Maps may come to your rescue.
The GPS navigator uses traffic information in order to minimize traffic delays that become an obstacle in your route. With a traffic receiver, you will be able to reroute around a traffic obstacle and not only avoid delays but also reduce driving frustration.
Imagine yourself on a car trip with your family crossing through a state that you’ve never driven in, and being able to take scenic routes to all the well-known spots available in each city.
It’s no longer a point A to point B trip but instead a family adventure that all of you can enjoy, including a moment or two set aside to have lunch at a picnic table set out on a delightful promontory amid the mountains of that area. It’s now totally available for you because of the Garmin Maps people!
