Garmin Streetpilot 2720
By Anne Ahira
The days of finding your way around a new city with a crumpled map and hand written directions are over.
Today, nearly anyone can have a GPS system installed in their car that tells them which street or road to take to a specific destination, plus tells you when to turn!
Isn’t technology a wonderful thing? Devices like the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 are used to only be available in new car purchases, however now you can buy them everywhere. Even truck stops are beginning to carry GPS systems geared toward big truck traveling.
Features
- Internal antenna
- Preloaded maps and trips
- Automatic recalculation if you miss your turn
- Text to speech
- 454 x 240 resolution
- Touch screen
Pros
You should never get lost again! With a device that can communicate with up to 12 global position satellites the Garmin Streetpilot 2720 has you covered.
It will calculate where you are going from where you are based on addresses you input. Then it will give you turn-by-turn instructions until you reach your destination.
If you should miss an exit or a turn, don’t worry the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 will reassess your route and give you the next best turns to take and so on until you arrive safe and sound at your given destination.
The map feature in the Garmin Streetpilot 2720 has definitely out done the competition. The maps are easier to see, read and navigate than some competitive models.
Take for instance the Magellan 6000, a nice GPS system overall but the maps are hard to read and navigate; when you want to zoom in on a particular location it is slow and jerky. The Garmin has no such issues; you can read the street names easily and be confident you are on the right line.
When you purchase any product, it is nice to have several options. For example, these GPS navigators must be mounted on the vehicle in such a manner that they are visible to the sky.
That means they are either in a vent, on the dash or a windshield mount. The problem is not all units offer the same options and in states like California where windshield mounts are illegal, you would need either a vent or a beanbag dash option.
With the Garmin Streetpilot 2720, you have the choice of beanbag mounts as well as many others, while the competition does not.
Bottom Line
By all accounts, this GPS is one of the best. Customers are overwhelmingly satisfied with the product and when it comes right down to it that is the main thing you need to know.
Of the 306 people who left feedback on the Garmin Streetpilot 2720, 275 of them were well-satisfied customers.
