GE Microwave Oven for the Home
By Anne Ahira
Forbes Magazine recently ranked General Electric as the largest corporation in the world today. With over three hundred thousand employees all over the world and an extensive catalogue of products, GE is one of the most trusted names in home appliances.
What do they make? While their current catalogue is far too broad for us to recount here, some of the company’s most famous products include: light bulbs, refrigerators, washer/dryers, ovens, and dishwashers. In this article we are going to discuss another popular appliance, the GE microwave oven.
General Electric has been producing high quality microwaves for over thirty years now, and they are presently one of the market leaders for household ovens. What makes a GE microwave oven different? Well, for starters, the global giant pours billions of dollars into research and development each year, which give them an edge and allows them to stay one step ahead of the competition at all times.
It also gives them the resources to produce an extensive line of ovens. That is why GE offers several different kinds of microwaves, including over-the-range grilling ovens, built-in wall ovens, over the range microwaves, and standard counter top units. There are dozens of different models that are offered for sale in each category.
How do you choose? Well, it really depends what you want and on the size of your kitchen. If you have a small kitchen and you want to save space, the best option is a wall-in or built-in GE microwave oven. However, if you have a large kitchen and you want a unit that can be moved around from time to time, then you should consider a countertop oven.
But a large variety of options is only advantage of the GE microwave oven. The company has also introduced impressive new microwave technology that sets their products apart from the pack. In the next section we are going to discuss a few GE firsts.
One of the most useful features on most GE microwaves is known as dual distribution technology. This feature is used when defrosting meats and vegetables from the freezer. Of course, the GE microwave oven has the standard rotating turntable, but it also has a top and a side stirrer that results in even heating and defrosting.
Another impressive feature in GE ovens is convection microwave technology. Yes, we know that most folks are still skeptical about actually cooking in the microwave. The chicken can get rubbery and the meats can be dried out. But with convection technology it is possible to produce perfectly roasted and baked foods in only a tenth of the time. Convection microwave technology also cuts down on energy costs as it can be quite expensive to heat up a conventional oven for each and every meal.
Last but not least, many GE ovens include microwave sensor technology. This state-of the art feature uses built-in sensors to instantly set time and power options, which takes the mystery and guesswork out of properly heating foods in the microwave. No longer will your veggies by mushy or your popcorn burnt.
