Kitchenaid Microwave Oven
By Anne Ahira
Whether it is a nice cup of hot cocoa or a late night bag of popcorn one thing is for sure the microwave is a must have in nearly every home. Some people have even discovered ways to make complete meals quickly and conveniently in their microwave ovens.
There are two basic types of microwave, a countertop and an above range or built in. Among these are several combinations of sizes and power, but the base is the same they will either sit on your counter or be mounted above your cook stove. Kitchenaid microwave ovens come in both varieties and are generally considered a reliable brand.
Kitchenaid Microwave- Architect Series II
For a large family or someone who entertains a great deal the Kitchenaid microwave with 2 cu ft is a nice size. It offers plenty of room for large dishes and a maximum power that is well beyond most microwaves.
Features
- 2.0 cu ft cooking space
- 1200 watts of power
- 16” stoppable turntable
- 30” width
- 10 Level power control
- Price $700-$800 plus
Pros
Rarely will you find a built in with this much space! 2 cu ft of cooking area is the top of the line among microwave ovens. You could cook a turkey in this thing, or at least reheat it for the day after Thanksgiving.
Along with a massive amount of space, the Kitchenaid microwave also has 1200 watts of cooking power. That is a lot of power for a microwave of any make or model. In fact this unit is so high powered you will want to carefully monitor cooking at least until you get used to the microwave. You can burn a bag of popcorn in no time flat with this model.
This Kitchenaid microwave seems to lead the way with many features. Not the least of which are the charcoal air filters. Smoke and cooking fumes are circulated by built in fans through the charcoal screens so the air returns to the kitchen fresh and clean.
Cons
This particular Kitchenaid microwave is very expensive. The bottom price for this unit is $700 through online retailers. While this is not the most expensive brand on the market, it is still a significant amount to pay for a microwave.
Information like customer and expert reviews are difficult to find. This is a real problem since the only way you can know anything about a product is to buy it and try it out or trust the information provided by previous owners.
Bottom Line
This is a large, high powered built in Kitchenaid microwave. It is available in black, white or stainless steel and is very sleek in appearance. The price point is a little high as far as microwaves go, however when it comes to above range models it is about average.
