Klipsch Speakers for Home Theaters
By Anne Ahira
As big screen television technology has increased and prices have come down, more and more people are choosing to put in a home theater.
In case you have never heard of one, a home theater does its best to recreate the movie theater experience with the right combination of big screen sets and advanced sound equipment.
In this article we are going to discuss Klipsch speakers and how they can help homeowners install the best home theater possible. Again, speakers are a integral part of the home viewing experience, so it is not advisable that you cut any corners and purchase a pair of inexpensive, substandard speakers.
If you have never heard of Klipsch speakers, don’t be embarrassed. They certainly aren’t a household name. However, they have been around for nearly sixty years now! But Klipsch speakers are clearly not intended for mass consumption. Rather, they are a specialty item that is made for discerning consumers.
Sure, that sounds a bit smug, but it also happens to be true. Klipsch speakers are not only the most efficient speakers on the planet, but they also sound much better and clearer than any other speaker you are likely to find.
Why are they not more popular? Well, Klipsch is still a fairly small company and they do not sell their wares in all of the top department stores like most of their top competitors. This is clearly a business decision and does not reflect the quality of the product or current levels of customer satisfaction, which are both quite high.
What should you look for in Klipsch speakers? To begin with, you need to pay attention to the subwoofer. For the uninitiated, let us take a moment to review what a subwoofer actually does. The speaker itself is devoted to emphasing low frequency sounds, and any home theater is naked without one.
But the reason that you should pay particular attention to the subwoofer when buying Klipsch speakers is that sometimes subwoofers are sold in packages as stall alone units and sometimes they are included as a feature in other speakers.
While there is a great deal of debate between audiophiles about the effectiveness of built-in subwoofers, what we have found, not surprisingly, is that stand-alone units are vastly superior. Not only do they produce superior sound, but they are also easier to coordinate with the other speakers.
Klipsch speakers are also prized for their aesthetic qualities, which are said to compliment nearly any environment. This is due to the fact that they are fairly basic in appearance and that they can be displayed with or without their grilles.
If you do purchase a home theater package that includes a stand-alone subwoofer, you should know that it is quite fetching. The unit is constructed almost entirely of aluminum and they are copper-colored. They are also rather large and square and have a modern look.
Because Klipsch is a small company they do not offer discount speakers. But, their products are competitively prices. Generally speaking, you should expect to spend between 500 and 800 dollars on a new set of Klipsch speakers.
