Should I Get An LCD TV 20 Inch?

Generally, as people purchase new televisions, they tend to move in one direction: bigger. I’ve very rarely seen people downsize, especially in their home theater. With that said, there are some areas in your home that would be ideal for an LCD TV 20 inch model.

And keep in mind that a 20 inch LCD is still going to have a superior picture to any old 20 inch CRT television you’re going to find. So let’s look at some ways to use these sets and what to expect when buying your own.

Places to Use LCD TV 20 Sets

I’ve watched enough home decorating shows to know a great place to position one of these small sets is in your bathroom. Maybe you have one of those luxurious sunken bathtubs, for example, and want to watch your favorite television show why melting away your troubles in bubble bath.

Actually, the idea of adding an LCD TV 20 inch set in the bathroom can be smart, especially if you’re selling the place in the next couple of years. Some experts say it increases the price you can get for your home.

Another good place to use one of these sets is in your home office. Many of the LCD sets that fall in the 19 to 22 inch range can also function as computer monitors very well. Imagine playing World of Warcraft or the Sims 3 on a widescreen LCD screen – that would be pretty amazing.

An LCD TV 20 inch television is also a good choice for children’s rooms. They are easy to mount so rowdy children won’t be able to knock them off their stands, and they provide enough of a screen to please youngsters who want to watch Dora the Explorer or some other favorite character.

A lot of people I know are also looking at the LCD TV 20 models as a good choice for the kitchen. Now to be honest, I never understood why anyone would need a television in the kitchen but more and more people seem to be adding them.

The screens are small enough they don’t interfere too much in the rest of the kitchen’s design but they do provide a decent way to watch cooking shows or afternoon programming while preparing dinner for the family.

Buying a Smaller Model

The bad news for an LCD TV 20 inch model is you’re not going to find quite as large a selection because, quite frankly, people are moving towards bigger and bigger sets as the prices continue to fall. However, Samsung and LG both have models for sale at Amazon.

Prices for the Samsung models in this size range are between $300 and $500 while the LG model costs a whopping $900. Interestingly, you could probably find larger models for about the same price or even less in the case of the LG.
