Buying an LG LCD TV
By Anne Ahira
With prices decreasing, purchasing an LG LCD TV is definitely a good choice at the moment. Of course, there are plenty of options on the market so having additional information about the models available is going to be helpful in making the final choice. Below is some important information about LG LCD TV models.
Facts about LCDs
Before you decide to buy an LG LCD TV, you should know a little bit more about this technology. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Diode. Within the screen are hundreds of pixels. A process known as addressing causes different pixels to turn off and to turn on which creates the picture.
Because of the way the television is designed, an LG LCD TV is capable of reproducing more than 16 million different colors. That’s going to give you a brighter picture than what you’ll find with a plasma or DLP television.
One of the other advantages of an LG LCD TV is the viewing range. With old-fashioned CRT televisions, the visibility is limited quite significantly. An LCD screen has a much broader viewing range than most televisions do.
The average LG LCD TV has a viewing angle of 160 degrees that means the picture is going to look equally beautiful when you are sitting or standing or when you are standing to the side or directly in front of it. That’s actually quite a practical benefit for home viewing.
You’ll also have fewer problems with ghosting or streaking. These are problems associated with slow response time. Basically, response time refers to how quickly the pixels change from being turned on or off.
In some types of televisions, the response time is quite slow which sometimes causes these unpleasant and noticeable problems in the image on the screen. Thankfully, you won’t have this problem with an LG LCD TV.
Background of LG
Before you decide to buy an LG LCD TV, you may want to know a little bit of background on the company. The LG LCD TV comes from the LG company which is based in South Korea. Originally, the company was selling developed to manufacture televisions and other appliances.
In 1999, the company started a joint venture with Philips and started making the LG LCD TV that has become one of the most popular on the market. The company has set some high standards in the television market.
In 2004, the first 55 inch LG LCD TV was launched for consumers. It was the first on the market. Just two years later, the company topped that accomplishment by launching an even bigger LG LCD TV. This one had a screen that measured 100 inches. It was the largest television ever introduced on the market.
As far as the current line of LG LCD TV models goes, you’ll find plenty of options that are going to be great choices for your own home theater system.
