Logitech Bluetooth for Average Users
By Anne Ahira
If you have somehow never heard of them, a Bluetooth is a wireless system that gives users the ability to send and exchange data over short distances.
They are most commonly used to connect mobile device users, as they were originally intended as a wireless alternative to data cables.
Probably the most popular use of the Bluetooth today is to connect mobile iPod users.
One company that is competing for the the iPod market is the California based company Logitech. Their new FreePulse Wireless headphones are compatible with any device that is Bluetooth-enabled.
During recent tests, the Logitech Bluetooth worked exceptionally well with the 30 gig Photo iPod and with several popular laptops, including the Dell Inspiron.
The headphones themselves have good sound quality and offer a number of useful setting. Of course, they are also wire-free, which give users the ability to walk and talk or listen. However, it is important to note that corded headphones do offer better sound quality than the Logitech Bluetooth headphones.
In fact, most users report that the Logitech Bluetooth headphones do not eliminate background noise as well as most corded headphone on the market today. This may be a considerable concern for owners who use their headphones on busy city streets or in traffic.
But no matter where you are calling or listening from, unless it is on a construction site, it is unlikely that the background noise alone will affect the performance or interrupt your call.
As for wireless range, many users have complained that they do not receive signals up to the 33-foot range that the company advertises. But this is, of course, not a proven fact. And for most users in major cities where service is widely available, the wireless range limits should never be a problem for the Logitech Bluetooth.
When it comes to the headband of the FreePulse, most users find it comfortable, but a few have complained that it is too short and that it does not offer users the adjustability features of other high-quality wireless headphones.
They have also reported that the headphones tend to brush or even scrape the neck when the user turns his head or looks up or down. That is why Logitech Bluetooth headphones are not recommended for anyone who has long hair or sensitive skin.
But it seems like we have spent too much time criticizing Logitech Bluetooth headphones and not enough time highlighting their many benefits. To begin with, the product is competitively priced.
While the company suggests a retail price of $99.99 (which is fair), it is easy enough to find these headphones on sale for as little as $79.99.
All you have to do is look online and search the sales at your favorite electronics stores. More likely than not, you will find a great deal on the Logitech Bluetooth at a store in your area.
Another great thing about the Logitech Blue Tooth is their limited 2-year warranty, which means that if something goes wrong, the company will fix your unit for free. When it comes to low-price electronics, that is a rare and impressive deal.
