Pros

The Marantz receiver has four HDMI inputs, while that may not seem important now as there are only a few consumer electronics using this output that will surely soon change. 

Look at it this way very few HD televisions have more than one or two HDMI ports; this means if you have HD satellite, a blue ray player and a new game system you will have to be constantly switching HDMI cables. 

With the use of a Marantz receiver with four HDMI inputs, you have solved the problem, now you only need one HDMI to your television.

The Marantz receiver has an excellent wattage per channel, considering power ratings usually run between 50 and 140 the Marantz receiver is on the higher end of the scale. Basically that means you get more boom for your buck!

For sound quality, most average DVDs only require Dolby digital surround decoding, however Blueray has added many new formats such as Dolby true HD and DTS-master audio. As you can see the Marantz receiver has all of these spaces covered.

Cons

The biggest barrier to owning a Marantz receiver is price. This unit retails from $900 to $1500, which is a big step to take for a home theater system. 

Nevertheless, you could rest assured this would be the last receiver purchase you would need to make for quite some time.

Bottom line

When it comes to home audio, you may not instantly recognize the name Marantz receiver. This is sad really, because from all accounts this is a high-end piece of equipment. 

This name brand has been around since the early fifties but for your average consumer it has been a well-kept secret. Perhaps the high price is the reason retailers have shied away from this excellent product.
