The microwave oven started as a novelty and has now become a necessity for nearly every household on the planet.
A kitchen just seems to be missing something when there is no microwave. If you are in the market for one of these devices, why not consider a Maytag microwave.

Pros
The first thing you will notice about this Maytag microwave is the roomy interior. With 2 cu ft capacity, this machine is easily one of the largest microwaves available. In addition to the interior Maytag also outfitted this model with an extra large turntable. The size and capabilities let you know very fast that microwaves are not just for popcorn anymore.
This Maytag microwave was created to do more than reheat leftovers. It will do that but with 1150 watts of power, you are sure to be able to fix larger items if not whole meals.
The scrolling VFD display is a neat item, it does not affect the running of the microwave, but it is a different approach.
Cons
You like to give a product the benefit of the doubt; however, the Maytag microwave model MMV4205 has too many complaints to be ignored. As a rule, you look at reviews and consider half of them to be paid reviews for the good ones and operator error for the bad. Nevertheless, the number of complaints this model has are overwhelming.
Apparently when constructing this model Maytag microwave the company used substandard parts for the fan and keypad. Users complain of fans quitting in the first few days and up to the first couple of years. It may sound petty to complain about a broken fan after two years of use, but microwaves are known to last up to 10 years with no problems.
This unit also comes with a vent hood and light combination. The light is another area users have complained quite a bit about. The light quits working after a short amount of time, and some have even commented that the glass covering is weak and will break under normal installation and use.
Bottom Line
The Maytag microwave model MMV4205 is definitely a lemon. When considering complaints from consumers you must take them with a grain of salt, but it would take an entire salt truck to cover these issues. Most customers had the same exact experience over a couple of year time span. Overall, this is not a recommended product. You would be better served to look at a Goldstar or Panasonic microwave instead. Maytag does washers, dryers and other appliances well, however they have missed the mark on microwaves.
