Anyone who has heard of mp3 players has heard of Apple products, but have you heard about Microsoft mp3 Zune players? Zune is a model of mp3 player created by the popular computer magnate Microsoft. There are many different memory sizes and configuration of Microsoft mp3 Zune players.
Microsoft mp3 Zune players consist of six sizes and two different memory types. Choose the one that is right for you.
Flash Memory
Flash memory is a type of nonvolatile constantly powered memory that can be erased and re-written in blocks. It is a type of memory that will not be damaged by excessive movements.
In flash memory format Microsoft mp3, Zune players come in three sizes, 4 GB, 8GB and 16 GB. All are capable of holding vast amounts of music and picture files, your choice will simply come down to whether you like the styling of a particular Microsoft mp3 Zune or the amount of music you feel the need to have at your finger tips.
Hard Drive
Microsoft mp3 Zune hard drive based memory is much larger than its flash counterparts are. These players come in 30 GB, 80 GB and 120 GB of memory. The smallest of these would rival the hard drive capacity of a home pc just a few years ago!
What this means is while you could store several hundred to a thousand songs on the flash-based players, with a hard drive you are into several thousand songs and hours of video! Video capability is the biggest cause for the move toward hard drives in mp3 players. Really, who needs to carry ten thousand songs with them? You can bet the battery would not last through half of them.
The granddaddy of these is the 120 GB Microsoft mp3 Zune player. It boasts memory capacity of 30,000 songs or 325 hours of video, that is more than enough storage for even the most avid media junky.
Hard drives do have a downside other than increased price. Hard drive based players actually have a tiny hard drive inside that spins around just like the one in your home pc. This means no excessive jarring or movement because you could damage the drive. Therefore, if you are are planning a 10K run and think one of these large Microsoft mp3 Zune’s is the answer to your prayers you will want to think again. A 16 GB flash mp3 will be the better choice.

Mp3 players have come a long way in a short amount of time. About the time, you get used to the interface and size of one the manufacturers come out with something bigger and better. Make your choices based on lifestyle first with style, size and price last.
