Music players may fit in the palm of your hand anymore but nothing replaces a good car stereo system.

The one thing that the mobile media player has changed is the format in which music is available.

Used to be the only CD you had was one you purchased at the music store or a retailer, now however you can download mp3 music tracks from all kinds of sources on the internet.

Therefore, now you need an mp3 car stereo, one that will play tracks from many sources including your IPod or burned CD.

Some mp3 car stereos will play one or the other but not both, others will play mp3 but not protected mp3, which is what you get from paid subscription services like Rhapsody.

In fact, most car stereos will not play protected media files such as these. The Pioneer DEH-P6000 is one such mp3 car stereo.

Features

  • CD receiver with built in MOSFET amplifier
  • Plays CD, CD-RW, CD-R, mp3, WMA, and AAC (will not play protected digital)
  • Fold down detachable face
  • OEL display
  • IPod control built in no need for an adapter
  • Bluetooth compatible
  • Subscription Radio compatible
  • AM/FM Radio

Pros

This mp3 car stereo is first an attractive unit with many available functions. You will notice at once the nice three-line OEL display that comes with screensavers and a spectrum analyzer.

This is just one of the many functions of this mp3 car stereo. You will also enjoy the ease of using your IPod with this stereo.

The controls are built into the unit itself so all you have to do is plug_and_play; you control the IPod functions with the stereo controls. This frees up your hands for things like, driving!

Music has never sounded better, reviewers all agree that the comments on the sound quality for this unit are not over stated. Have music your way right away with the built in seven band customizable graphic equalizer.

Cons

The one con on this mp3 car stereo is the single wheel control. When driving it can be difficult to navigate the choices and many times, you end up on an option you did not want.

Like many mp3 care stereos, this one will not play digital protected music files. That means you cannot burn the music purchased from ITunes, Napster or other subscription service to CD and play it in your car.

In order to listen to these tunes you are stuck routing them first through your mp3 player and then the stereo.

Overall

Good solid mp3 car stereo at an excellent price. Currently this stereo retails for less than $200 on Amazon and similar sites.
