Pros

The IPod 4 GB mp3 mini player is light and portable for the person on the go. It will store between 66- 133 hours of music depending on chosen speed and has the great user interface that IPod is legendary for.

Cons

Battery rating seems to be something of an issue with this mp3 mini player. The advertised life of eight hours quickly dwindles after a few months of use and if you are planning to replace the battery look forward to a bill between $70 and $170 with a ten-dollar service fee for a technician to change it. Reports of this issue were in slightly less than a third of the customer reviews.

This mp3 mini player is actually hard drive based so even though Apple may bill the unit as a perfect jogging mate, don’t do it! Hard drives mean one thing, moving parts that will be damaged by your moving parts. If you take the mp3 mini player jogging and it freezes or quits you will be out of luck with the manufacturer warranty.

Several people had problems with freezing up. The song might play for a minute and then just lock up. Calls to customer service ended up with leaving the player alone until the battery dies, charge it and try again. Not real encouraging to customers.

The above stated problems happened with a small percentage of the customers who purchased a 4 GB mp3 mini player from IPod. Other customers were quite happy with the performance and function of this media player.

Apple has practically cornered the market on personal media players. For that reason, many people are frustrated by the lack of competition; however that does not mean the players are bad.

The Apple IPod 4 GB mp3 mini player is a perfect small player. The small size lets you take it anywhere easily and at storage capacity of 1,000 songs, you could quite nearly fit an entire library of the average listener on it.
