MP3 Player With Radio
By Anne Ahira
Since you can now get portable media devices that will hold thousands of music tracks, you might think that a radio would be a moot point. Thousands of consumers think otherwise.
The biggest complaint from customers about mp3 players is the lack of a built in radio. Many people are looking for an mp3 player with radio functions.
Sony has heard the outcry from the consumer and was quick to come up with an answer. The Sony Walkman 4 GB has a built in digital radio along with many other features.
Features
- 4 GB flash memory
- 33 hours Audio playback
- 8 hours video playback
- Supports MP3/WMA DRM and non-DRM/AAC audio codec’s
- 2 inch display
- 320 x 240 resolution
- Comfortable lightweight ear buds
Pros
Once in awhile a company will go above and beyond for their customers and when Sony created this mp3 player with radio that is exactly what they did. Especially when it comes to the headphones. They have added EX series noise canceling ear buds to the package. This is a pair you will not want to throw in the trash.
This mp3 player with radio has superior audio quality that is unmatched by any other device on the market. Even IPod cannot hold a candle to the outstanding bass and clear treble on this unit. You will have to fidget with the settings somewhat as the factory defaults are not the greatest, however in a few minutes time you will be rocking away to your favorite tunes.
This mp3 player with radio has a smooth user interface and intuitive controls. It is particularly nice that you can fast forward to the end of the list with the right button. This is a small feature but one that is a nice touch all the same.
Cons
The biggest problem with this mp3 player with radio is lack of file types supported. It is compatible with mp3, wav and AAC. The problem comes in if you have the random odd file type like OGG or mp2; you could have a system crash with these file types.
For some consumers the size may be an issue. With only 4 GB, those with extremely large music collections will have to pick and choose carefully among their favorites. Of course that is assuming you have more than 900 music tracks!
Overall
This player does all it says it will do and more. Sony pulled out the stops to create a great little mp3 player with radio for dedicated customers and new consumers. In addition, they did all of this without breaking the bank, you can pick up a new unit for about $145 on Amazon.
