MP3 Players 1 GB – Battery Life
By Anne Ahira
People like to have their music on the go, in the car, on the job and while they work out. This has opened up a huge industry called digital mp3 players. Just about everyone has one and if they do not then they are about to get one.
When choosing mp3 players 1 GB or larger you may be swayed by looks, functions and mp3 accessories, but you may want to check into the battery life as well.
Let’s face it no matter how pretty it is or how many tricks it can do it will do nothing with dead batteries. The following will answer basic questions on battery life of mp3 players 1 GB or larger.
Specifications
When you research mp3 players 1 GB or bigger you will find tons of information on the types of files it will play how many songs it will hold and how many pictures you can save. Buried in the specifications will be the manufacturer’s suggested battery life and battery type. This is a good place to start assessing the potential play back time, however you must realize the hours of continuous play may be a bit deceptive.
Things Affecting Battery Life
The hours of play, you find in the specifications of mp3 players 1 GB or larger gives you an estimated time. If you play videos extensively, view photos, have the backlight on, turn the volume way up, or use larger headphones than the ones that came with the player you will drain your battery much faster.
The battery life on the packaging of mp3 players 1 GB or larger only applies to average use. In other words, you keep the volume down, use the standard ear buds, keep the backlight off, and keep the equalizer settings flat. Doing all this will give you play back time on mp3 players 1 GB or larger close to package specs.
Removable or Internal Batteries
The debate on battery type for mp3 players 1 GB or bigger rages on. Some consumers swear by the internal battery others prefer removable. The bottom line really is what you prefer.
The best thing about removable batteries is they can be replaced as soon as mp3 players 1 GB go dead, therefore no waiting for the unit to recharge. You simply replace the batteries and continue listening to your favorite tunes.
This can become time consuming and cumbersome however as you will need a constant supply of batteries or invest in rechargeable and a charger. Still this is a personal decision.
Internal Batteries
Most people prefer mp3 players 1 GB or larger with an internal battery. When the unit goes dead you hook it up to a wall charger or mp3 player USB cable and wait for it to charge. No need for a supply of batteries or expensive rechargeable ones.
The downside of course is you are not always at a place where you can re-charge mp3 players 1 GB. In this instance, you will simply have to wait until you return home to use it again, or invest in a charger for the car.
Finally
There is more to mp3 players 1 GB or larger than looks and features. Be aware of all things that can affect the performance of your portable mp3 player, such as battery life.
