Every so often makers of gadgetry will have the fine idea to use a proprietary power source such as the N battery.

If you have never seen or needed one of these small batteries count yourself fortunate because now days they are extremely hard to come by.

We may never know why such quirky things occur but if you have been a remote control toy or model fan, you have probably come across these small batteries.

Apparently, there are a few cameras and other devices that still utilize the N battery as well.

Size

The N battery is a little more than half the size of your typical AA battery. If you were to stack two N batteries on top of one another, they would be just a bit too long to take the place of one AA. Their diameter is odd as well being a bit bigger than an AAA but smaller than an AA.

Assortment

While the N battery is somewhat rare on the retail market, in stores such as Radio Shack, Wal-Mart and others, you can still find a wide assortment on sites such as Amazon.

Here you can find the N battery from Energizer, Duracell, Ultrafast and Sanyo just to name a few. The prices will vary greatly as well depending on the package size and brand.

For instance, the GP alkaline N battery two packs will run you between, $1.5 and $5 depending on availability. The same N battery from Eveready will run you about $1.22.

Bottom Line

The N battery is elusive but not impossible to find and believe it or not, for such a rare battery it is not very expensive. Be sure to keep plenty on hand however especially if they are for a device you use every day. Shipping time could cause a problem if you are not fully prepared.
