Netgear Router

It has only been the last few years that people even knew what this was. In fact one of the leaders of the industry of getting people connected online is the Netgear Router. This allows you to be able to get your computer or computers all hooked into the Internet quickly and easily.

In order to talk about the Netgear Router, it might be advantageous for us to make sure that you are all familiar with what a router is and what it does so we can all understand the technology, which will in turn make it all easier.

Typically a router like the Netgear Router is designed to allow the user to set up local area networks or LANS so that information is easier to share between computers in the network. It also allows all the computers to share the same access to the Internet so that each computer does not need to have it’s own dedicated connection and account in order to be on line.

What that means is that using a Netgear Router will allow you to have as many computers as the router can handle connected together and into the Internet at the same time without having separate provider accounts.

Routers such as the Netgear Router can be either wired or wireless. If it is wired then you need to actually have Ethernet cat 5 cables run from each personal computer to the place where the router is located. Each computer also needs to have a networking card installed so that the cable can be hooked between the computer and the router. If you are going wireless then you can forgo the need for the cable to be strung but you then need to make sure that any computer you have is set up with the wireless unit.

There are Netgear Routers that are a hybrid and offer a combination of wired and wireless ports so that you can actually integrate both types of computers. The wired are usually the desktop models since they typically don’t move and the wireless ones are, for the most part the laptops or notebooks.

If you are considering a Netgear Router of the wireless or hybrid variety you will need to take into account the strength of the signal and the location of the units. The closer in proximity the better the signal and the better the Internet experience. For this reason, you might have to play around with the actual install location of the router. A small movement one way or the other can make a world of difference in how good or bad the reception actually is and thus will be a direct correlation as to how much you hate or enjoy the experience.
