Samsung 67
By Anne Ahira
Everyone likes television; this is evidenced by the sheer number of channels now available through satellite and cable. At any given moment, there are 200 plus channels to choose from including music.
People plan their day around the morning traffic and weather reports, and some even plan activities around favorite programming. With all this interest in television programming it is not surprising there is also an immense amount of interest in the latest and biggest high definition televisions on the market. Take for instance the Samsung 67 inch big screen that is a whole lot of viewing pleasure!
Over the past few years, LCD and plasma have made a big splash on the television market. Each one is competing for your hard-earned money. While the two of them duke, it out DLP has continued to plod along, making bigger and bigger televisions.
The problem with size is the LCD starts pixilation at anything over 46”. Plasma on the other hand is producing sets over 60’ and in Japan even 100’ but the power consumption is massive, and the units are very expensive. Therefore, if you want more than 50’ television and are on a budget, you will probably be considering a DLP like the Samsung 67 inch.

Pros
The Samsung 67 inch is a huge television for the money! It has been said that size is not everything, however that is usually said by someone still watching a 27 inch. All joking aside there are other considerations, such as picture quality but the size is nice.
DLP televisions use a different technology than LCD or plasma. DLP stands for digital light projection and refers to the method in which the images are displayed on the screen. The sets use a replaceable bulb that reflects light off several thousand tiny mirrors and through a color wheel. In the new Samsung 67’s, however this light and wheel combination has been replaced by LED lights. These improvements extend the life of the light and eliminate the biggest issue in DLP televisions, the rainbow effect.
When you are talking about big screen televisions and all these different technologies, you will soon be hearing the term high definition. This term has been used rather loosely across the television industry, not all HD TV’s are the same. This is because any television that has a dynamic contrast ratio of more than 1,000:1 can be labeled HD. This Samsung 67 inch has an impressive 10,000:1 contrast ratio, which puts it in the higher end of the HD market. Bottom line, this set has a great picture and has none of the pixilation or burn in issues of LCD or plasma.
Cons
These small televisions never come with impressive sound. All the room the manufacturers try to make is at the expense of decent sounding speakers. Generally, you will want to connect these sets to a surround sound system.
Overall
The Samsung 67 is a great HD television with many pluses and few downsides. The price is great, size is awesome and you will be able to watch this television much longer thanks to the LED technology. The Samsung 67 is a highly recommended product.
