The size of mp3 players today has gotten astounding.  There are devices that will hold 120GB and it promises to go even higher.  However, if you are considering making the jump to a 30GB mp3 player there are some things that you should take into consideration first.

If you already have an mp3 player and are making an upgrade, try to determine how you currently use your player and what the extra space will give you that you don’t have now.

If you use the device for listening to music primarily, 30GB is a huge amount of space and will most likely be all that you need.  You could potentially hold 7500 songs on a mp3 player this size.

Video files can be stored on some of these players and you should decide if you will be using the player for this type of file.  A 30GB mp3 player will give you an adequate amount of space on your player for video, but you should make sure that you clean it up frequently so that you aren’t wasting space on things that you don’t use anymore.

The cost difference in a 30GB mp3 player should be taken into consideration as well.   It might just not be worth the extra money when you consider whether you are going to use it or not.  Don’t spend the extra money if you are not going to be using the player to its fullest capacity.

There are a variety of models of the 30GB mp3 player on the market.  Many of these players have some really great features.  Do your research before you buy to make sure that you get the best value for your money.  Some of the lower priced players have come a long way and are now very good options if you are looking to save some money.

Finally, take your time and do some comparison shopping when you have determined the right 30GB mp3 player for you.  You will be able to find a better deal if you shop around first.

Amazon or Compusa are two reputable sites to check out for your player.

Consider the service that you will use on your device.  Make sure that you will be able to get the music that you want for your player.  You should be able to use a subscription service or a service that charges per download.

The management software is something that you should be comfortable using so that you can manage your music, photos and video on the device.  You will be able to create playlists and manage your music in a whole new way when you get one of these larger size and newer mp3 players.

In the end, the decision to upgrade to a larger size mp3 player will allow you to do more things with your player.  Instead of just listening to music, you can watch videos, keep your picture collection on the device and even communicate with your friends.

If you’ve ever taken a look at those 30gb MP3 Player advertisements and wondered why anyone would ever want to purchase one that could hold that much music, you might be surprised by the number of benefits involved. Below are some ideas to help you understand why bigger can be better when it comes to portable mp3 players.

Versatility & Capacity

One of the biggest assets of a 30gb MP3 Player is that you can hold a lot of content. With that much space, you could easily hold more than 7,000 songs.

However, a large capacity hard drive has another advantage: it can hold more than just music. For example, you could load your hard drive with photos from your last vacation so you look back at the trip yourself or share it with others.

You can also download music videos, full music, television episodes, and more. All of this digital entertainment can be yours at the press of your fingertip. And don’t forget that a larger hard drive is also going to hold more of the video games that are being designed for the portable mp3 player market.

No Need for More Memory

Many of the smaller players allow you to expand your memory by adding flash memory cards. Keep in mind that those extra memory cards are going to cost you.

With a 30gb MP3 Player, you’re not going to need any additional memory. If you do, you could always upgrade to one of the even larger hard drive models.

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself whether you’d prefer to have more memory than you need or if you’d want to worry about having to add more memory down the road.

Portability

One of the complaints some people have about 30gb MP3 Player is their larger size. Because of the hard drive, they do need to be a bit bigger but most people would not complain about their portability, especially when compared to the behemoths we once considered portable.

And they are getting smaller with each new generation so eventually the size difference between a 30gb MP3 Player and a smaller one will be insignificant. However, if you are going to be using your player while exercising or similar active pursuits, consider purchasing one of the smaller models that are designed more for that purpose.

The RCA mp3 player Jet or iPod Shuffle mp3 are both good choices. You can always save your 30gb MP3 Player for other on-the-go purposes.

Price

While a 30gb MP3 Player does cost more than the smaller units, you have to consider what you are getting for the money. A 2GB or a 4 GB model can cost about $100 but most of these size units run around $200 to $300 which means you’re getting ten times the storage capacity for only double or triple the price. That’s a good value.
