Good Reasons to Buy 1GB MP3 Players

Have you ever argued with someone about the drawbacks of those enormous jukebox capacity MP3 players? I’m not a huge fan of them myself for lots of reasons. That’s why I’ve put together a few of the best reasons to choose 1 GB MP3 players instead.

1.  Cost

The price difference is huge when it comes to 1 GB MP3 players and all the rest. At Amazon, for example, the average prices for these are around $30 or less while you won’t find the larger models going for much less than $150 to $200. Because MP3 players are so easy to lose, it doesn’t make sense to spend that kind of money on buying one, at least not to me.

2. Capacity

While you might argue that having a ton of capacity is a great thing, I’d argue just the opposite. Why carry around 1,000 songs or more when you can’t possibly listen to all of them at one time? And can you imagine how long it takes to reload those songs on the MP3 player when you’re making changes? Having 1 GB MP3 players makes things much easier because you’ll have to make tougher choices about which songs you want to hear. Maybe you can even throw on a few new songs you’re testing out and actually be able to hear them at some point.

3. Size

Some of the larger capacity MP3 players are a big too bulky to really be useful as portable devices. Now the iPod has really brought its size down on the newer Nanos but some of the models available are pretty good size. With 1 GB MP3 players, you’ll normally get something much more compact and easy to take along with you. They are more versatile, too. You can use them while exercising, for example, which is something you can’t do with the larger players.

Besides these three reasons, I also think many of the companies producing 1 GB MP3 players have a solid reputation and are known for producing some good players. SanDisk is a good example. The company has been making flash memory for years and also has made some great portable audio devices, too. The $30 Sandisk Sansa Clip is probably one of the best examples of great 1 GB MP3 players available at Amazon.

Incidentally, 1 GB MP3 players are also the best size for young music lovers who are begging for their own player. You can get a nice Coby model at Amazon for about $15. Their 1 GB MP3 players aren’t as high quality as SanDisk’s but they can be a good way to test your children’s level of responsibility before you spend the extra and buy them a nicer player of their own.

4Gb Mp3 Players

If you enjoy listening to a lot of music and carrying around a large portion of your entire music library, you might want to consider 4GB MP3 players.

These monstrous hard drives can hold up to 1,000 songs saved in 128 kb format. If you’re curious about some of the top 4GB MP3 players on the market currently, keep reading for some information that might help with your buying decision.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze

One of the options for 4GB MP3 players is the SanDisk Sansa Fuze. Obviously, this portable mp3 player has a sizable hard drive.

If you prefer images to plain music, you can also hold up to 4 hours of video or more than 2,000 pictures on the hard drive as well.

Video and pictures look particularly good on this unit thanks to a color screen that has 1.9 inch diameter.

Additionally, the Fuze 4GB MP3 players come with FM tuners, voice recorders, and the option to expand your memory with microSD cards if you discover you need more room.

Another bonus for this particularly model is decent battery life. The rechargeable lithium battery can run for 24 hours of continuous audio play without needing a recharge. Price at around $70, it’s fairly reasonable as far as 4GB MP3 players go.

Creative Zen Player

If you’re debating between several sizes of hard drives but leaning towards 4GB MP3 players, you might want to consider those offered by Creative Zen.

While the 4 GB model is one of their best sellers, you can also buy versions with 2 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB hard drives.

Besides the bigger hard drives and price differences, you’ll be getting about the same player no matter which version you decide to purchase. You’ll get both audio and video playback functionality, of course.

However, the Creative Zen 4GB MP3 players also come with clock and alarm functions which might nice for college students who need a quick nap between classes but don’t have a friend who can offer a wake up call.

This product also has expandable memory, an FM tuner, and eight equalizer settings so you can play the music the way you want to hear it. Price about $15 more than the SanDisk model discussed above, the Creative Zen player might be worth the extra cash thanks to its 2.5 inch color display which is quite a bit larger than what you get with the SanDisk 4GB MP3 players.

Coby MP305 4GB MP3 players

Of course, just because you want 4GB MP3 players does not necessarily mean you want something large and bulky or that you need to view videos.

The Coby 4GB MP3 player lack a large screen, although they do have a display which shows song names and other information. However, their flash memory drives can store up to 1,000 songs.

You can also use the handy FM tuner to hear music and with a fast click you open the built-in USB connection so you never have to deal with cords again. And priced at under $40 this is definitely a good value for music lovers on a budget.
