The immense size of this Archos player means you should have no trouble fitting all your media on it. If you have more than 300 movies or 2.5 million photos that you want to take on the go, there isn’t a portable media player on the market that can help you!

With a full featured DVR dock, you can take any movie recorded on your home DVR with you. This is an option not available at this point with any other brand.

Overall, this generation Archos player has improved on any weaknesses the prior models had. Bigger screen, browser supports flash controls, and all the buttons are easier than ever to use.

Cons

If you have upgraded from any Apple product you will be disappointed that you cannot use the ITunes music or videos on the Archos player. Nor will you be able to play non-copyright protected AAC files without purchasing a separate plug in.

Overall

The Archos player is a one stop does it all personal media player. It is hard to see where the company could have added anymore function to this player. Music, movies and photos plus an internet browser in one neat little package. The price is a little high if all you need is an mp3 player; however, for a personal media player it is very competitive.

Archos players are actually portable multimedia players capable of supplying most of your entertainment needs. With the 605 Wi-Fi, you can access the Archos content portal and wirelessly download movies and music directly to the unit with no need to connect to your home pc.

With the optional Opera plug in and an active internet connection, you can view YouTube videos quickly and easily.

If you do not have wireless access there are no worries simply connect to your pc via the 2.0 USB connection and you are ready to stream or save content directly to your Archos player.

Dish Network has teamed up with Archos players offering a plug in that allows you to move your favorite movies or television programs from your DVR to the player. Now you can watch them on the go or take them to a friend’s house and play them back on their television.

Cons

While this is a portable device, it is not one you will simply slip into your pocket. This makes it less than optimal as an mp3 player; of course, its primary function is not as an mp3 player.

The manual for Archos players may not always be on point for your particular device. There are many different models of Archos players and the manual it seems has been created to be a generic version applicable to most players.

The USB is not a standard connection, it requires a special proprietary cable included with the unit when you purchase it. This is a small aggravation; however, it would be nice to have a standard connection.

Conclusion

If you would like an all in one media device that allows you to take movies, images and music with you wherever you may wander this unit is the top of the line. Great features and reasonable pricing make Archos players very user friendly. Never miss your favorite reality show again, or take along your family movies on the next trip to the in-laws.
