Traveling has become easier than ever with all the new technology that is on the market today. There are devices like the Magellan Roadmate 360 that will tell you where to turn and when. It is definitely not like the good ole days when a map and a highlighter were the traveler’s best friend.

Before your next long road trip or vacation, you may be considering getting a device like the Magellan Roadmate 360, and if you are here are some fine points about this particular device.

Features

  • Preloaded maps of USA, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico
  • Touch screen interface
  • Text to voice
  • 2 million points of interest
  • Trip planner
  • 2.9 color display
  • Windshield mount included

Pros

The first noticeable difference between the Magellan Roadmate 360 and other similar devices is the 2.9-inch color display. It is much easier to see and read than some of the competition, plus it is bright and offers 3D format display.

If you are planning a long trip the Magellan Roadmate 360 can help, you find the quickest route, avoid heavy tolls and if one route is crowded with heavy traffic or other obstruction the Magellan will reroute you to avoid it.

When traffic is difficult or the weather is not cooperating this GPS will give you verbal cues to follow so that you can concentrate on what you do best, driving.

Ever hear of the price is right? Well nowhere is that truer than with the Magellan Roadmate 360, this device will only set you back about $150 brand new and if you go with a refurbished model, you will only pay about half of that.

Cons

There has been quite a bit of issue with finding street names. Several customers have returned the Magellan for this very reason. One perceptive consumer found that if you shorten the name, say instead of looking for Oak Street, simply type in Oak and then the city you will find all addresses beginning with Oak, like Oak Lane, Oak Drive and so on. Using this method, you should successfully find 99% of the addresses in the United States and elsewhere.

Bottom Line

Traveling can be fun or frustrating, getting lost and missing exits on the freeway are definitely not in the fun category. Therefore, the next time you plan a road trip pick up a GPS device like the Magellan Roadmate 360 and make it the journey of a lifetime. Many people love this device and several do not, it seems to be a matter of whether you can figure out the small quirks, such as the address issue mentioned above. When all else fails take a map or an atlas for back up.
