There are mp3 players a plenty, you have huge multimedia devices that will do everything but drive you to prom, the small basic music only players and everything in between. The big, as in lots of memory devices are normally hard drive players with at least 20 GB, the medium will be a mixture of flash and hard drive and range from 4GB to 16GB, then the small players with no bells or whistles will be 1 or 2 GB.

You might wonder why anyone who could purchase an mp3 player with 20 GB or more would waste their time on 1 GB mp3 players. Well there are several reasons actually, not the least of which is price. You can purchase brand new 1 GB mp3 players for less than $50 and often times for just over $20. Plus these players are flash memory and therefore good for an active lifestyle. That being said let’s look at unique 1 GB mp3 players.

Mp3 players are not just a new media device anymore. They have evolved to be an integral part of society and innovations come down the pike every few months it seems. The players are getting smaller in many cases but the memory and capabilities are getting bigger.

Archos has built a strong line of media players since they were founded in 1988. Normally that would make a company young, but with the fast pace of technology companies must become very well acquainted with consumer demands for products or be left in the dust. Archos mp3 players is doing just that, they advance as quickly as technology allows and strive to provide the consumer with products they cannot live without.

 

One thing that sets Archos mp3 players apart from all the rest is the fact that they are actually much more than a music player. All of Archos current releases are advanced media players with mp3 capabilities. That is a fancy way of saying the player is video first mp3 second. That is with the exception of the Generation 5 105 released in 2007, they are still primarily an affordable mp3 player with video capabilities.

Archos 7

Archos mp3 players have entered a new realm entirely with the Archos 7. Truly an all in one media player this unit is capable of movies, mp3, images, DVR recordings and internet access.

This Archos mp3 player is better described as an internet media tablet and the unit is extraordinary.

Pros

The speed of web browsing for the Archos 7 is a decided improvement over the 705. A faster processor means that even complicated web pages display quickly with little or no problem.

Email platform is great; the unit comes with a native email client that supports pop email like Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. The very best part of this feature is the price, free!

The 7-inch screen is amazing for watching videos; while the unit itself is a touch shorter than the 705, it has the exact same screen size. Colors are more accurate and the images crisper than previous models.

Cons

Weight is a tad heavy, at two pounds this is not a unit that you will be lugging to the gym, of course who needs to watch a movie while working out right. It does mean you will want to have a separate player for exercise, perhaps one of the smaller Archos mp3 players?

Overall

This is definitely the future of media players and while there will still be a need for basic Archos mp3 players this one is bound to get some attention and loyal fans. Rumors are circulating that sometime in 2009 Archos will release a 500 GB version of their media players. One has to ask just how much storage does a person need in a personal media device?
