The Good

Amazing picture quality; lots of choices available; plenty of connections for home theater systems; Samsung’s excellent reputation

The Bad

Higher resolution may not be worth paying extra for in many cases

The Bottom Line

Anyone who wants to have amazing picture quality should consider purchasing a Samsung 1080p HDTV. The price mark-up for the higher resolution is going to be worth it thanks to all of the extra features. Plus, you may notice the difference if you enjoy Blu Ray discs or own certain video consoles.

Review

Samsung has definitely made a name for itself in the television department. They consistently produce some of the best models on the market and are frequently adding new features which set them apart further from the competition. Some of their best models are the high end Samsung 1080p HDTV sets.

One of the best reasons to consider Samsung 1080p HDTV models are the options. The sets are available with either LCD or plasma technology. Between the two, the LCD models tend to have the better picture. The colors are brighter and more vibrant.

Plus, the black colors are darker which is going to prevent glares from distorting your picture. Both types of technologies do provide good picture quality, in general.

You can also choose from a wide range of sizes. The Samsung 1080p HDTV is available in sizes from a 32 inch to 52 inch. This is good because you want to pick the right size for your viewing area. If the television is too close, you’re going to see more details than you desire, including the pixels that make up the images.

Measure the viewing distance from your entertainment seating to the location of the television. If that distance is around four feet, you should not choose a screen larger than 32 inches. As long as the distance is more than six feet, you can purchase most screen sizes on the market.

The newest Samsung 1080p HDTV choices come with built-in flash memory for storing computer files, such as photos or music, you might want to easily view on your television. Some of the models also have USB ports so you can hook your digital camera, computer, or MP3 player up to the set and enjoy it via the television.

Most of the sets come with enough connections to hook up your entire home theater system, too. This is a real plus since many of the newer sets do not come with very many of these connections so hooking up your cable box, DVD player, video game consoles, and other devices can be a challenge.

One drawback of the Samsung 1080p HDTV is the resolution. The resolution is good but for the average viewer the 1080p resolution may not be very noticeable. You could save money by downgrading to a 1080i or 720p resolution, although doing so will also cost you some of the high end features. The price difference is usually only a couple hundred dollars and the features are definitely worth that or more.
