Taking music with you everywhere has become a national past time. Everyone has an mp3 player these days, no matter how old or young a person is they either have had an mp3 player or are thinking about getting one. For the latter group here is a great one to consider, the Sansa e280 mp3 player.

Features

  • 8 GB
  • 1.8 inch screen
  • FM tuner
  • 2.0 USB
  • Alloy metal casing
  • System Requirements: Windows XP or above, Windows Media player 10, CD:ROM Drive and 2.0 USB port

Pros

Feel confident when taking your media with you on the go with the Sansa e280 mp3 player. This sleek little 8 GB mp3 player is made of metal alloy for increased durability. Some of the biggest name brand players are encased in plastic and that just does not have the sturdy feel of metal.

The Sansa e280 mp3 player comes with Play For Sure certification. This means the player has undergone over 200 interoperability and performance requirements. Compatibility with Windows Media audio and video are the most commonly referenced requirements while things like synch time, gapless playback and user interface performance are also important.

You will have more music download options with the Sansa e280 mp3 player. Play for sure certified providers include Rhapsody, Napster to Go, Spiral Frog, and Bear Share. You will not be chained to one music download site , as is the case with some of the competition.

FM radio is built into the Sansa e280 mp3 player along with an option to record from it. This is an option that all mp3 aficionados demand in their portable music device and this one performs very well.

Cons

There is no bookmarking option with the Sansa e280 mp3 player. In order to go get back to where you were you must use the scroll function and go through the entire list again.

Downloading and printing the user manual for the website in order to troubleshoot minor problems is irritating. A simple troubleshooting guide would have been more helpful.

Customer Ratings

The Sansa e280 has gotten rave reviews from the majority of consumers who purchased it. Comments include stuff like great battery life, easy to use and better than average FM radio.

Overall

If you are looking for a small compact mp3 player with plenty of extras and play for sure certification, the Sansa e280 mp3 player fits all of the above and more. Pricing has stayed quite competitive with units costing less than $100 on sites like:

This is a great price for a sleek, sturdy Sansa e280 mp3 player with plenty of options and no overpriced accessories. Free yourself from the tyranny of the IPod and ITunes duo and get a nice little player for less money.

The e280 Sansa is a sleek designed 8 GB mp3 player with a large 1.8 TFT color display. In addition to the click wheel, you find on many players the Sansa comes with four backlit buttons for ease of use.

One cool feature is the ability save music to a SD memory card and then move it to your personal cell phone. You could save a bundle on buying ringtones with the e280 Sansa!

Features

  • Digital FM tuner that allows you to listen and record your favorite new songs from the radio
  • User friendly interface
  • 8 GB Flash memory
  • Replaceable and rechargeable lithium ion battery (Big plus!)
  • Video formats supported; MPEG-4, DIVX, and WMV
  • Photo storage
  • Voice recorder
  • 20 hour battery life

Pros

Easy to use, good battery life and nice design are just a few of the good things that people have had to say. Sound quality and price ran a close second with the e280 running $100 on Amazon.

Record your favorite song from the radio then transfer it to your cell phone via the SD memory card. Or move that song a friend blue toothed you over to the e280 Sansa.

Cons

The player did receive a few negatives from raters. Headphones again rank in the number one slot for complaints, maybe the manufacturers should quit adding headphones and invest that money in more features, people throw them away and buy better ones anyway.

The SD slot is placed precariously close to the record button, someone was not thinking clearly on that design aspect of the e280 Sansa. You run the risk of recording when you insert or remove the card.

Other issues included cover art display and playlist editing. For the most part functionality was only an issue in a handful of cases.

Customer Ratings

Amazon has logged over 700 reviews for the e280 Sansa and of those 569 were very positive. People loved the quality of the build, metal back plate, and the buttons were easy to use even for large guys with big hands.

Most were impressed with the inclusion of the radio tuner though it must be said that today that is standard practice with many mp3 players.

Overall

Bottom line if you want a stylish mp3 player for around $100 this is a good one. You might be able to score one of similar size and design overseas but the quality would be less than optimal. The e280 Sansa is a solid mp3 player that customers have rated very well.
