If you have a household with multiple computers, or even have a laptop, it is easy to understand the frustration of being tied down with cables.

The hassle of untangling wires when you are needing to get to a single cord, or tripping over wires while moving around, especially with small children, can become hazardous to your entire family.

These are only a couple of the problems you will no longer have to face once you go with a wireless cable modem.

Some of the concerns when switching to wireless is the signal. In truth, a wireless connection is just as strong as one that is directly connected to your cable modem. Not to mention that a wireless cable modem is very simple to set up.

There are very little configurations that are required. Some wireless cable modems have a radius of 328 feet indoors and 1,312 feet outdoors. That basically means that in a space with walls it has a range of 328 feet, however, in an open area it has a range of 1,312 feet.

Furthermore, you can have several connections on the same network without bogging it down. So, there is no need for you to worry about a wireless connection.

Another concern is that a wireless connection is not safe from computer hackers who would use the connection to steal your personal information that may be stored on the computer.

A wireless cable modem has an internal security setting that can be set, as well as a firewall to protect your information. So, as long as those protocols are configured in your wireless security options, it will be completely safe to surf the net without the worries of having an intruder.

This is due to the WEP (wired equivalent privacy) key. The WEP key is set up in the wireless security options of the wireless cable modem and prevents hackers, as well as viruses, from attacking your network.

Wireless cable modems are great for networking home, or office computers and terrific if you want to be able to access the internet in any room of the house without the restraint of wires, nor additional equipment that would normally come with setting up a wired network.

No matter where you are in your home, or office, with a wireless cable modem you will be able to access the internet with ease. You can have your wireless cable modem in the kitchen and surf the net in your bedroom, or in your living room.

There are no limits to the possibilities. Now that you have the information, you can make the choice on what would be best for you.
