There are calculators and then there are advanced calculators. The TI 83 Plus calculator is in the last category. A basic calculator will add, subtract, multiply and divide which is great for elementary school or maybe junior high however when it comes time to go to high school and college students require more advanced capabilities. This calculator can handle everything that school throws at it and then some.

Pros

This calculator is a basic entry level graphing calculator. Students new to scientific calculations can easily learn on the TI 83 Plus calculator.

When it comes time to move to more advanced devices you will already be familiar with the keys, functions and capabilities.

The TI 834 Plus calculator has a good variety of functions. Whether you need this calculator for a simple math class or complex scientific equations it has the capability built in. You can even calculate financial and statistical information with a few key strokes.

Once there was one major computer system, the PC but today many people are seeing the advantages of a MAC, the only problem is it can be hard to find peripherals that will work with either interface.

The TI 83 Plus calculator scores again in this arena as you can use it with either MAC or PC. With the TI graph link software and cable, you can easily connect to your computer and transfer information back and forth.

When you are working with electronics it seems that every few months there is a new upgraded model available, with the TI 83 Plus calculator you will not have to worry about this since the unit itself is upgradeable.

There are some higher college level math classes that may require a more advanced unit than the TI 83 Plus calculator.

The TI 83 Plus calculator is a great all around graphing calculator for high school students and most college students. The price point of this unit is very reasonable at $100 or less on Amazon.
