The Tomtom go 510 is one such device that is pretty popular. Here are a few of the high points of this particular GPS device.

The one tell tale feature of any device is simplicity. If you have a GPS unit that is extremely difficult to use chances are you will forgo the pleasure. With the Tomtom go 510 all you need to do is enter a postal code, intersection or house number and street to find the fastest route to your destination.

It is always nice to be able to customize your route. Let’s say you would prefer to avoid all toll roads, the Tomtom go 510, has this feature built in. You can set and choose an alternative route; in fact, you can preview the route before you even get into your car!

Of course, if you have ever taken a long trip you know that very seldom do you hop in the car and drive straight to your destination.

Most of the time you will want or need to stop along the way for food, fun and fuel. Create an itinerary that includes all these potential stops along the way with the Tomtom go 510.

Most people will miss at least one turn along the way, but with the Tomtom go 510 you do not have to worry. This GPS device will quickly recalculate your journey giving you new directions.

Another improvement with this GPS device is the touch screen interface. This makes it much easier to calculate your route; there are no buttons to hassle with. This coupled with a four-inch LCD screen makes the Tomtom go 510 very easy to use.

Cons

The one major complaint about the Tomtom go 510 is the documentation. The manual that comes with this device leaves a lot to be desired.

Thankfully the unit is simple to install, however if you need to do any data input it can be a little tricky. Another example is installing the Tomtom go 510 with the windshield mount is detailed in a picture only tutorial.

Bottom Line

Whether you are looking for yard sales on a summer afternoon or traveling for business on a regular basis a GPS unit can be your best friend. The Tomtom go 510 offers plenty of features for either pursuit or many more. This is a great GPS unit for the price.
