Toshiba is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electronics and computer components.

Though they began as a simple producer of telegraphs, technology would later improve and the company naturally expanded into other more productive fields.

Currently the company is one of the leading makers of semiconductors and personal computers, especially laptops.

Let us take a moment to review the history of this Japanese giant. Toshiba was officially founded in 1939 when two companies merged to create a large maker of electrical machinery.

The company was located in Tokyo, Japan, and they went by several different names over the years. In fact, it was not until 1978 that they were officially named (or renamed) Toshiba Corporation.

In this article we are going to discuss the popular Toshiba computer and how the company has managed to compete in a crowded marketplace. For a company that did not focus solely on the personal computer, Toshiba has certainly contributed a lot to PC technology.

In 1954, Toshiba introduced the first TAC digital computer. Then in 1986 they released the first personal laptop Toshiba computer. Finally, in 1996, they offered the first sub-notebook personal computer.

But how about the Toshiba computer of today? As we mentioned, Toshiba has done extremely well and their products are presently the fifth most popular on the market today. When it comes to regular consumers, the Toshiba computer has been a big hit.

The company’s most popular line of computers is their Satellite line, which are available with a whole range of special features. To begin with, you can purchase a Toshiba computer based on the processor. You can select a Single core Celeron, an Intel Pentium, or an Athlon processor from AMD.

Because they are a large company, Toshiba has a reputation for producing low cost computers. In fact, other than Acer, Toshiba produces some of the most affordable laptops when compared to its closest competitors. They are also well known for their special features and top-flight operating systems.

What are some of the special features? Most Toshiba laptops boast excellent battery power and they can operate for several hours before they need to be recharged. These computers typically feature a six-cell battery that can maintain peak performance due to the low voltage CPU.

The Toshiba Satellite also features the latest operating systems from the top software producers. Presently, most Satellite computers feature the impressive Windows 7 operating system, which is said to compliment the high speed and power of most Toshiba computers.

Perhaps influenced by their television technology, Toshiba computers are also prized for their state-of-the-art screens, which provide superior graphics and High Definition displays.

Recently, Toshiba has enter the mini-laptop market and has wasted no time establishing itself as a top player. Again, the company draws upon decades of experience in other industries to help them perfect a mini-laptop that functions exactly like a standard PC.

These computers are among the most popular in the growing laptop market where companies must be incredibly sensitive to consumer demands and market research.
