If you are like many people in the world today, you have or have considered an home internet network. This is where two or more computers and devices linked together to share resources.

In order to do this you need any of the above mentioned  equipment and a device like the Trendnet Router. These devices make it simpler to set up your home computer network.

Pros

Learning from previous models Trendnet increased the security for this router. With enhanced security and a built in firewall you will not have to worry about piracy or identity theft issues.

This Trendnet router has the expected four port LAN connection and one WAN. These ports have a corresponding light on the front of the router to let you know they are in use. Unlike earlier versions, the antennas do not crowd these ports as the company has moved them to the top of the the unit.

If you are a new user who has never set up a network before this Trendnet router makes it simple for you. Included with the router is a CD with a nice user interface that will guide you through the entire process. You can still use a web based tutorial if you are more accustomed to the process. The only catch to the set up is that your computer must be connected to the router via a wired connection and it must have only one active network connection, otherwise the tutorial will not run.

Once the network is up and running the more sophisticated users out there may want to log into the Web based interface of the router for some advanced options. In this scenario, you can access:

The Trendnet router has options for every level of user. Those with more experience will enjoy these advanced features and new users can have fun learning them.

Con

Certain users with cable internet may encounter issues with this Trendnet router. One Comcast user had difficulties with the router not allowing access to specific sites. After a thorough analysis, it was found to be an incompatibility issue that could not be fixed.

Overall

There are pros and cons to the Trendnet router but overall it is a decent answer for most small home networks. The unit is priced reasonably and the easy user interface makes it an ideal first router.
