When to Get a Wireless Broadband Router
By Anne Ahira
Most households can connect to the Internet with ease thanks to their affordable broadband Internet connection plans with some of them being part of their cable Internet plans. If there will be only one computer accessing the Internet, the best way to set things up is to put the computer near the cable or DSL modem or put the modem nearby the current desktop position. Either way, your connection will be maximized through the Ethernet cable that connects the PC to the router.
However, if other computers need connections to the Internet or simply want to be part of the network for file sharing or collaborative purposes, a much more complicated setup is needed if it is through the wires. A good way to simplify the setup process is by getting a wireless broadband router which removes the requirement of having wires around to connect to the computers together allowing a cleaner network to be formed. It is very important, however, to know when exactly you need a wireless broadband router especially if you already own one that runs on wires.
Households with Laptop Users and other Mobile Users
Most laptop users will always be stationed at the any place in signal range where they are comfortable and that can mean more than one place. Disconnecting the cable to the network so the laptop can move can be quite inconvenient especially since it needs to be connected to another available wire.
A wireless broadband router works differently by broadcasting a signal that only laptops, netbooks, and other computers and small devices with WLAN functionality can capture. For a good connection to be made, laptop and mobile users need to be as close to the wireless broadband router as possible.
Wi-Fi Hotspot Creation
Wireless broadband routers are perfect solutions in creating a custom Wi-Fi hotspot that any person within the signal range can access. Many times, the hotspot is protected by a password that uses the WPA or WPA2 certification programs to prevent unauthorized people from accessing the network and shared data.
Providing that the Internet speeds are very high, setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot is a great way to share the Internet connection with dozens of users. Usually, hotspots are set up in restaurants or small cafes so people can stay and get more things done.
Easy File Sharing
Even if the Internet isn’t in the picture, routers can still be used to share files across a network in a similar fashion to wired routers. If the devices including the wireless broadband router have the 802.11n driver, file sharing can be a lot more reliable than sharing through wired as the speeds rise up to around 300 Mbps.
It is even better to get a wireless broadband router since proper Windows management can allow file sharing operations to be overly simple. Even if one those points are true, a wireless broadband router is the way to go. It can handle the network and is extremely easy to set up.
